I've always admired film as an art form, but knew nothing about it. I recently volunteered to be a video producer for a local non-profit. In the space of three months a couple of nights a week after work, I learned to use a video camera, use video editing software, with a classmate shot my first show, edited my first show, and saw it broadcast (albeit on public access cable one night at 10pm). For a corporate suit that never filmed anything before, it was quite good and I hadn't expected to love doing it as much as I did.
